Hexy's family is all still in South Jersey, no?

This blog thread will go unsullied by the presence of hammarby31, at least, since he's getting a life playing goalie in Israel this week.

I think Homer has been a very good and shrewd GM who has never missed the Playoffs with a full season of hockey to work with. (his interim season and this lockout one were not full seasons he had control of) I'm glad Hexy's back but I like most of Homer's moves and I think this team is currently stacked this year. The only thing I'd like Ron to work on is to find & Develop us another Quick & Bernier combo. I like Mason & Razor but the are both only signed for one year.

Eventually I'd love Hexy to take over. But I want Homer to move on when he has had enough. It's a big job and he might be wanting to step down at some point. Maybe Hextal is his way of signaling it's on the way. But I want this to be on Homer's terms.

Tim,

You float out these incredible "theory's" or rumors all the time, yet very few if any come true. I really question your access and sources.

What happened to the flyers trading for Bobby Ryan - you practically said it was going to happen. The stuff you proposed the flyers sending for him was outrageous and nobody in their right mind would think the flyers would give that much for ryan, yet you did?

Did you not listen to Hexy's interview's about how this came about? He talked to Homer at the draft and Homer hired him. Hexy has family here and I'm sure got tired of S. CA.

Logic escapes Tim. Hexy probably talked with Homer and said he'd like to be closer to his family, but not hurt his chances of becoming a GM. Homer probably told him that they could work something out so he could have the title of assistant GM while being closer to his family.

Or maybe Hexy decided he wanted to be closer to family for a while and will wait to be GM of the Flyers whenever that time comes.

homers not going anywhere anytime soon, if hexxy wanted to be a gm he could have been already sick of all the negative spin the philly media pins on every little single thing, i bet hexxy spends more time overseeing reese, mason and razor then anything

actually, tim's a little more connected to reality in this case than most of the posters. homer can't afford another yr out of the plyoffs and w/ DET and CLB in the east along w/ the improvement by NYI and TOR, that's not a slam dunk. i could def see homer moving into scouting full time if things go sour.

Actually that's just an opinion. My opinion of the reality is that Holmgren is not on as short of a leash, as some would beleive.

heard tim on CSN say that a higher up in the org thought hexy was the GM heir apparent. when that happens and under what circumstances, of course, nobody knows.

After he wins his second Cup in 2015 and, like George Washington, retires after two successful terms.

I would expect that when Holmgren wants to walk away, will be a big factor. I don't beleive if the Flyers miss the playoffs, it will be walk the plank for Holmgren.

Agreed. I believe the only way Homer will be dismissed is if it is apparent, early, that the Flyers are not cut out for being competitive -- let alone a playoff team. If you look at how the early part of 2006-07 went, that is what I mean.

That said, I highly doubt this season will be anything like 2006-07. I will go on record to say that this season will be akin to 2007-08.
